Composed & performed by Cornelius Boots on 2.74 bass shakuhachi flute "Magic Salamander Blues" Alternative World Music – Avant-garde Blues – Elemetal Nature Music Bass Shakuhachi - a natural, wide-bore, long variant of the shakuhachi: a root-end, vertical flute from ancient Japanese Zen Buddhism. The return of the rustic virtuoso woodwinder, transmitting the spirit of primeval nature: the source of live, growth and magic vitalism. This music is a transmission of the power and vitality of the breath as it both emerges from and connects us to Nature. We saw 2 salamanders in our new basement as we attempted to remedy water intrusion issues, they appeared then disappeared like magic, but we felt blessed by their presence in spite of the non-optimal scenario. This is a brand new Nature Blues in the substantial solo woodwind style (bamboo blues, nature blues & hymns) that I have been cultivating since about 2008, it was done just in time to submit for the Tiny Desk Contest 2026. I have also entered in 2020 and in 2022. In spite of zero instrumentalists ever winning, I feel it is important for us to represent the non-vocal side of music in arenas such as this, that strive for open-mindedness and gather creative souls.
