Forgotten songs from HEIDI (European Heidi cartoon series) ~ music cover with newborn baby goats

Heidi, the cartoon series we all grew up watching, was made in Japan. This anime version of the Heidi story was created as part of the World Masterpiece Theatre initiative in Japan, which produced anime versions of Western classics such as “Little Women” and “Pollyanna”. “Heidi, girl of the Alps” (1974) has been aired in Europe, Asia, Latin America, South Africa, and the Arab world. This remarkable internationally-acclaimed anime TV series has been translated to about 20 languages – it has been dubbed into everything from Korean and Telugu to Greek and Portuguese. A complete new soundtrack was composed for the series in Germany, and this score was in turn used in European dubbed versions such as Italian and Turkish. In South Africa, we grew up with Afrikaans 1980’s version – with Christian Bruhn’s famous intro song and Gert Wilden’s beautiful score, both taken from the German (re-scored) version of Heidi. In this music video Legato Trio covers two in-episode songs from the series which are less well-known than the famous (European) intro song by but which are equally beautiful. The footage of the goats was taken with the birth of this year’s kids. The goats belong to Nina, and we are blessed with seven kids so far! (Wish us luck in learning which is which.)
