Andrew Wouters was a Catholic priest in the 16th century. As a young cleric, looking at the testimony of his life he obviously did not take his faith very seriously during his young adult years. At the time, The Protestant Reformation was sweeping across Europe, and eventually the Calvinists took over the town he was residing in and demanded that he renounced his faith, particularly the Eucharist in transubstantiation and loyalty to the pope. However, Wouters held firm to his beliefs, showing the grace of final perseverance we as Christians can also cultivate in our own lives.
