A remix from 2021 for Linda Clifford's 1978 Disco single "Runaway Love" which was a big club hit, reaching and holding down the number one position on the US Dance Chart for five weeks, and peaking at number 3 on the Hot Soul Singles chart. Kimmy gives this kiss-off song a nearly fourteen minute excursion while the Wild Rascals provide some rhythmic editing. I really get a kick out of the "woo, yeah" vocal samples during the intro, the breakdown in the middle and again as the mix enters the outro portion. Such vocal sampling in the 1990s was usually sample from one of James Brown's songs where he shout those expressions at one point of another, sampled and then arranged to repeat in time with the beat of the music for which it is featured in. Kimmy appears to have done his homework here as he takes snippets of Clifford's vocal and creates a similar arrangement. Unlike the highly sought after Disco mix by Jim Burgess, the Marshal leaves in the part where Mrs. Clifford tells the guy "and take this dog with you!" and then later "I know he bit you, cuz you never feed him!" As we head into March, the month that include "International Women's Day" - I honor the occasion all month long - I opted to reupload this remix by the one whose country honors women on an ongoing basis and leads the world in celebrating this holiday to honor the women of the world.
