Henrietta & Myrna Neudorf are so excited, they just can't hide it. Energy? Palpable. Enthusiasm? Contagious. Chemistry? Electric. Try & stay seated as this dynamic Canadian duo transform The Pointer Sisters' 1984 smash hit, "I'm So Excited". I needn't tell you what happened after this clip aired: A bidding war ensued between the major record labels with Tommy Mottola (Sony) eventually signing the duo to a 10 album deal. Debut album, Straight Outta Steinbach, remains a classic and regularly features in critics' polls. A young Celine Dion pleaded to open for them on their "Xcited World Tour" and cites the duo as her biggest influence. Fans had to wait 13 years for a follow-up album, the misguided Winnipeg Democracy (though treasured by hardcore fans). It all came crashing down during the infamous gig at Red Rocks when Myrna suddenly exited the stage during the third song ("Can't Nobody Hold Me Down") never to return to the industry. Henrietta releases music today on Bandcamp (albeit sporadically) and makes rare, unnanounced appearances at venues such as The Viper Room and Cafe Wha? While any reunion or new Henrietta & Myrna music is about as likely as the same from Led Zeppelin, fans have never given up hope. Or excitement.
