Last time, I mad a mold for the front half of a two way speaker housing. This time, I am using the two upper cavities in the four way speaker mold to form the back halves of the two way speakers. I didn't like the way clamps made little ripples in the flanges on the four way prototype, so I made some little PVC boards to clamp onto instead of clamping directly to the speaker flanges themselves. This time, I learned that aligning the two halves of the speaker isn't easy, so I plan to modify the clamping boards to serve as an alignment jig as well. I also learned that it is possible to crack the flanges while clamping. This should be less likely if future versions get made and glued together on the same day. Fiberglass parts have an incredible amount of flex when they are new, but rapidly get stiffer and a little more brittle as the first hours pass. I think these will glue up a lot easier if I can make both halves and glue the parts together on the same day.
