1️⃣ Allergic reaction including anaphylaxis- you are more likely to have a reaction to the enzyme that breaks down filler than hyaluronic acid filler itself. It’s best to do a patch test before using hyalase in non-emergency situations. 2️⃣ Unpredictable results- as we can’t control the extent of filler breakdown, you can get uneven results. It can also break down natural hyaluronic acid in the area and the effect can continue afterwards resulting in loss of volume and loose skin. 3️⃣ Delayed treatment- although the filler starts to breakdown immediately, residual activity can last up to 2 weeks. This means you have to wait at least 2 weeks before you can get more filler treatment in the same area. I therefore only recommend dissolving fillers if there’s no alternative. Like anything in medicine, we have to weigh out the risks versus the benefits. If it’s an emergency then there’s no question but if it’s because you don’t like the effect of dermal filler- I urge you to consider it carefully. This post is not intended to scare you or put you off any treatment but to make you aware that it’s not simply ‘dissolve if you don’t like it’ approach. Let me know if this helps with a 💚 #isitsafe #whatcangowrong #informedconsent #facialfillers #dissolvingfiller #dermalfillerdissolving #doctor #billericay
