How Did a Family Find Justice After Decades of Searching? || True Crime Documentary Linda Patterson Slaten was born in 1950, became a mother of two boys, and endured an abusive marriage with Frank Slaten before divorcing him in 1974. Despite challenges, she worked hard to support her family. On September 4, 1981, Linda was found murdered in her apartment by her sister Judy. She had been strangled with a wire hanger and was sexually assaulted. The investigation into her death stretched for decades. Initial suspects included her ex-husband Frank and her eldest son Jeff, but both were eventually cleared. The case went cold until DNA technology advanced. A palm print found on Linda's windowsill led investigators to Joseph Clinton Mills, the football coach who frequently gave Linda's sons rides to practice. DNA evidence confirmed him as the killer in 2019. Joseph Mills was arrested, and during his interrogation, he claimed that Linda had invited him over for consensual sex, but the police believed this to be false. He was convicted of first-degree murder and sexual assault, receiving a life sentence without parole. Linda's sons, Tim and Jeff, were shocked to learn that Mills, a trusted figure in their lives, had been responsible for their mother's murder for over 40 years. Despite his conviction, the Slaten family still grapples with the emotional toll of the crime. Please subscribe to our channel to watch more mysterious cases: / @crimetv21
