Russian forces have reportedly trapped Ukrainian troops inside Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmeysk), sealing the city’s final exit routes, according to TASS. Igor Kimakovsky, aide to the Donetsk administration, said Moscow’s forces now control all roads out of the besieged city. Only a small group of Ukrainian soldiers reportedly escaped toward Mirnograd before the encirclement was completed. The capture marks a major strategic win for Russia in the Donetsk region. This follows Moscow’s claim of eliminating Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk and rising desertions across Ukraine, with over 21,000 soldiers reportedly abandoning the army in October alone.
