Daily Dose of Froglogic - 27 Oct 2020 The peace tree called. The pastures were silent And so to were the cows, I know he could hear the demon’s plow. Ages ago Men escaped their past, By condemning their futures at half mast. War calls To those who cry no more, And seek retribution for the lies which tore. Boys turn to Men Violence and actions taught, Malevolence must be conveyed and fought. You removed your skin And dawned the armor of men, Testing its fortitude again and again. I saw you teach The will to fathom and fight, To those like you running from the night. You taught me too To dig a little deeper, Into the dark next to the Reaper. The road does not slow Pulling you into the Deserts breath, There is no escaping the reality of death. The Mist did appear Pulling you back from the razors edge, A child and a woman briefly kept you from walking off the ledge. But the tree kept calling Your cup runneth over with guilt and shame, There’s no place to hide your beast cannot be tamed. The nightmares do scream Even after nature’s medicine and treatment, When your clenched in its claws there is no escaping it. Your journey home It began when you left, The comfort of War and the silence it begets. Draco by your side Yet perpetually alone Saying goodbye to the Country you protected as home. On the road Without the beats The silenced Alamo the haunted streets. The river pleaded Your friends and loved ones did try, Call after call lie after lie. Yet you returned To the darkness of home, With no place left to explore and to roam. Through the gate Following old tracks trying to ignore the cross, Through the 200 year Old oaks and sadden moss. Once inside No restraint to the screams, The past is back with no in between. The mettle and metal bend No more warnings for you to test, Your past providing shade for you to finally rest. The peace tree is calling It’s time to sit still, God is waiting for your heart to fill. In Memory of Dave Hall June 8, 1973 - October 12, 2020
