Restoring a 1970 Boss 302. This grabber blue Mustang Boss 302 was owned by a customer who sold it to go to college in 1975. He kept track of the car for 36 years until he reacquired it,, and brought it to us for restoration. The pony car rivalry had begun in 1967 with the introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro by General Motors. The Camaro gave Ford its first real competition since the introduction of the Mustang in 1964. However, revenge was sweet with the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302. The name was inspired by Ford stylist Larry Shinoda, who had a nickname among Ford employees of “Boss” and 302 was the motor to power this legendary mustang. Under the hood, the Boss's high-output 302 V-8 was said to produce 290 horsepower at 4600 rpm, actual output was estimated to be far higher. Mated to the motor is the optional wide ratio 4 speed manual. Ford spared no expense to ensure this would be a Trans-Am-worthy powerplant, installing new "dry-deck" Cleveland-style heads with 2.33-inch intake valves and no head gaskets, solid lifters, an aluminum high-riser manifold, super-high-flow Holley four-barrel carburetor, high-capacity dual-point ignition, four-bolt central-main-bearing caps, cross-drilled forged crankshaft, and special pistons Hit the like button right now if you like the video, it's the only way for us to grow!
