Happening Now: White House Briefs Press Ahead Of House Vote To End Shutdown

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Wednesday afternoon as an end to the government shutdown is finally in sight. President Trump signaled his support for the Senate-passed version of the continuing resolution earlier this week as lawmakers have fought for weeks over how to end the more than 40-day lapse in funding. The House returns Wednesday after a nearly two-month hiatus and will take up the bill, which is expected to pass. It will then head to Trump’s desk for signature and bring the record-long shutdown to an end. The briefing also comes after new emails from the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, released by House Democrats earlier Wednesday, allege Trump knew about his relationship with underage girls.
