Acquiring and beginning to develop Melco International in 2001, Lawrence Ho saw it as a time to move forward. In 2002, China lifted restrictions on Macao's gaming market, positioning the city as a key entertainment hub. Recognizing this as another valuable opportunity, Ho began seeking international financing. Among the first to introduce the Macao story to global investors, Ho successfully accumulated the capital needed to acquire their own gaming license. Being questioned the decision to introduce The House of Dancing Water, the world's most expensive show to date, Ho took a long-term view, focusing on transforming Macao into a diverse, non-gaming cultural destination. Ho, who is also a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, has been striving to contribute to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. "We pay close attention to every policy and strive to understand the country's strategies so that we can align our efforts accordingly," he said.
