How To Use Gold Leaf to Gild A Frame

Learn how to gild a wooden frame with imitation gold leaf and finish the frame with spray lacquer. Gilding is the centuries-old craft of applying thin sheets of gold, silver or other metals to make frames, furniture or other decorative pieces appear to be made of precious metal. You can apply 23-karat gold leaf, but I use imitation leaf from Mohawk Finishing Products for this project, which costs much less than the genuine precious metal but creates a very realistic look.
