The Human in the Loop is a piece for wheelchair dance, cello, live-electronics, live generative system, and live notation. The work is a real-time creation by the wheelchair dance. This is an interactive work; the movement of the wheelchair is measured by sensors. The computer uses the movement to create the music that is sent to the cello player by a live-notation system. The wheelchair reacts to the music. The wheelchair dance and the computer embody a creative framework that is a self-referential, circular creative system based on collaborative intelligence. Sorry for the quality of the recording. I recorded myself the performance. The cello was in the frame, but in a last minute adjustemnt of the sensors, I accidentally hit the camera, and I changed the focus and the camera configuration.
