Fuselage Tailcone Bottom skin assembly Dec 24, 2024 - 2:41 Hours Dec 28, 2024 - 6:06 Hours Jan 1, 2025 - 7:35 Hours Jan 3, 2025 - 1:42 Hours Jan 7, 2025 - 0:19 Minutes Deburred the bottom skin, longerones and sringers, Access Cover Tab Ring, and access covers. Cut out the slot covers in the aft inspection hole of the bottom skin, I filed this part of the skin smooth. Installed the 8-32 Nut Plates MS21047-08 with 3/32" Aluminum Rivet 40APR1/8 into the Access Cover Tab Rings. One of the 3/32 rivet failed so I drilled it out and replaced with a new rivet. Orientated the Tailcone Bottom Skin per FIGURE 07-01 in the figures manual. Referred to the aft diagonal stringer holes for proper orientation. Clecoed the inspection cover tab rings to the upper side of the tailcone bottom skin. Cut out the aft tailwheel cable pulley mounts with aviation snips, filed to smooth the edges, Deburred, and clecoed into place. Also temporarily installed the pulleys with the bolts to check the alignment of the pulley mounts. Clecoed the longerons into place. Clecoed the stringers and marked 0.25 inch from the edge of the hole to trim. Filed the stringer to round the edges and deburred the stringers, clecoed into place. Continued fabricating the remaining stringers. After making the video i noticed there are holes hiding under the inspection ring that i missed. I will redo these stringers at a later date to span the entire distance to include the holes in the tab rings. Flipped the skin over and spanned between two saw horses. Deburred and Assembled bulkhead assembly 11 I used some duckbill pliers and carefully bent the flanges on the aft doubler on the S-10 bulkhead to be flush with the S-10 forward bulkhead. Since it is bent on the same jig as the bulkhead and is under bent. Jan 1 Clecoed each bulkhead station to the upside down bottom skin with all flanges pointing forward. The bulkheads hung below the bottom skin. Riveted the stringers with 1691-0410 AVEX rivets. Riveted the longerons with AAQP-42 rivets. Riveted the bulkheads and the inspection panels with AAQP-41 rivets. Didn’t do the aft part of the Tailcone because I’m going to fabricate a doubler for the shock monster tailwheel. Did not rivet the longerons or stringers between Station 3 and Station 4, just left it clecoed. This is where an extra stiffener angle, the Station 3 to Station 4 support will be installed and where the tailcone slides over the tangs welded to the fuselage. Fabricated a doubler for the shock monster tailwheel out of 0.062 aluminum for the install of the shock monster tail wheel. I counter sunk in the center of the doubler where the tail wheel will mount so it will be flush. I primed the doubler and set aside to dry. Jan3 Clecoed the primed tailwheel doubler into place and made a note with a sharpie of each of the new thickness so I can better know which rivets to use in those spots. I riveted all the holes except the countersunk holes because I have ordered some countersunk rivets and are waiting for them to be delivered. The flush rivets will go between the shock monster tailwheel assembly and the doubler so that the tailwheel assembly can sit flush against the doubler. Jan 7 The flush rivets were delivered so i finished up riveting the tailwheel doubler into place into the Tailcone bottom skin with 4-4 countersunk rivets from fasters.com. The domed rivets would cause interference with the shock monster tailwheel so that is why I'm countersinking. https://eaabuilderslog.org/?s=BradRan... / airburt
