PLEASE READ THE UPDATE COMMENT UNDER THIS VIDEO! :) 𝕧___ℙ𝕃𝔼𝔸𝕊𝔼 ℝ𝔼𝔸𝔻 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔻𝔼𝕊ℂℝ𝕀ℙ𝕋𝕀𝕆ℕ___𝕧 Big shoutout to the courteous part of the AA community! You are the reason hundreds of people a day still come to enjoy a game ♥ If you're in this video and don't like it? That's great news! Because it means at least you don't lack the introspection to cringe at your own complaints. So, why did I decide to put uncensored names and voices in this video to ridicule it when I could have blurred them out? Simple: even though the anonymity of the internet might protect you from getting punched in the face for your hateful and toxic comments, that does not make them any more enjoyable for those around you. What has been said can't be taken back and it has done its harm, even if you might apologize afterwards. And though I think people should be judged for what they say and do today more than the stuff from yesterday, I also think people can be held responsible for the times they didn't shut up when they should have. I really believe that the rampant toxicity in AA, especially from many high level players (I am one too, by now) and a few of the admins of private servers is slowly but surely breaking up the community and driving new and old players away. That won't make the community or the game die tomorrow or the day after, but one thing is sure: Players who leave the franchise because they get tired of the spiteful people surrounding it won't return for the next installment, if there ever is one. So if you really want AA to die off, it's easy and you are already doing it right: just give people the impression it's only played by inconsiderate idiots and cheaters and they will leave for someplace better... Few people realize that the voice and text interactions will make just as much of a first impression on new players as graphics or gameplay. How players represent the community and behave in the game makes all the difference in whether you think you want to invest your precious time in this game. A quick example: • Imagine you join your very first game and the first thing you hear is "fucking cheater", "aimbot idiot" and "everyone will hate the game because of you". • You think "well, it is many high level players that say that so they must know best I guess. And the game is free, so of course it makes sense there are many hackers playing it." • Plus then you play a few rounds and get yelled at and insulted for being a noob and people have no interest in trying to help you out to become better. • Or worse, you have literally 1000s of hours experience in other fps and do half decent, then you'll probably get kicked before you're level 10 on most servers. ➜ All in all this is probably not a game you would want to keep playing. So please, for the love of god and all that is holy: If you can't stop yourself from raging at people in game: Go take your friends to discord and spew your hate there if you must. Disable the game voip and keep the world free of your unnecessary, off-putting toxicity. But better yet: Be courteous. Be approachable and helpful to new players. Learn to enjoy congratulating others on their achievements instead of trying to pull them down for doing well. And don't think of yourself as a gift from god and know everything there is to know just because you sat in front of a PC playing the same game for a few 1000 hours. Be open to have your opinion changed in light of new information. And a special message to all private server admins: of all people, you bear a special responsibility to provide a welcoming environment for your community. You influence the perception of many of your friends and other players the most of all people. Therefore I believe you are the key to creating an open and non-toxic climate by reminding people to keep hatefulness to themselves and encourage courteous behavior and also enforcing rules on hackusations whether it is against friends or strangers. Nobody needs to hear more trash talk in their free time, especially right now. So if you can't even say something nice, just keep your mouth shut or leave. Stay calm and stay kind!
