🌱 Autumn Seed Sowing for Spring Success | Peat-Free Gardening Guide Sowing seeds in autumn is one of the most rewarding ways to grow resilient, healthy plants — and it’s easier than you might think! In this video, I show you how I sow seeds (many collected from our own garden) in 11cm square pots using Melcourt SylvaGrow Peat-Free Multipurpose Compost. Each pot gets a fine layer of horticultural grit on top to improve seed-to-soil contact and reduce moss or algae growth. I then label the pots and place them in recycled mushroom crates (they fit 12 pots perfectly!) to keep them stable. Once everything’s sown, the trays are placed outside for the winter, where natural rain and frost will trigger germination in spring. It’s a low-effort, eco-friendly way to grow from seed — no greenhouse needed.
