Why your arms might be ruining your golf swing (and causing casting). One of the most common mistakes I see golfers make is dragging the arms across the body in the backswing. When this happens, the elbows separate, the structure of the swing breaks down, and it becomes almost impossible to maintain wrist angles — which leads directly to casting and loss of power. The problem usually starts with a misunderstanding of how the arms actually move in the golf swing. Many golfers believe they should actively move their arms “around to the right”. In reality, the body turn creates that appearance. The arms themselves move very differently. In this video I break the concept down without the body turn first, so you can clearly understand: • How the arms are supposed to move in the golf swing • Why dragging the arms across the chest destroys structure • Why this motion leads to casting and loss of lag • How to keep the elbows connected and stable • Simple drills to fix the arm motion immediately Once you understand this concept, the golf swing becomes far simpler and far more repeatable. If you struggle with: Casting the club Losing lag Early release Weak or inconsistent contact This video should help you finally understand the real role of the arms in the golf swing.
