SOUNDBITE (English) Roger Krone, Scouting America President and CEO: “We don't see anything that we have had discussions with with the department as changing the way we run our programs.” 3. Various of Scouting America building and logo 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Roger Krone, Scouting America President and CEO: “Part of this is was an opportunity for us to educate the department on what we are already doing and we did have those discussions and and we already only we have two boxes on our application. And we over time we made that point with the Secretary and with his staff and that's what our application looks like and that is what our applications will look like in the future.” 5. Various of Scouting America building and logo 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Roger Krone, Scouting America President and CEO : “Our policy is we welcome any youth who wants to join our organization, can join our organizations. That was our policy yesterday, it's our policy today, and it's are policy in the future. Our application has two boxes. Are you a boy or are you a girl? And we do that because in the past, in the present, in the feature, we need to run an absolute safe program, right? And our program is unique because very often we have kids overnight, which means we have tents, we have bathrooms, and our policy is that, you know, Xs are with Xs and Os are with Os. And in order to implement our policy, we need have some knowledge of what you are, who you are if you will. And it helps us with implementing our safeguarding policy. So we've always asked. So for our tenting and use of our facilities, I think the secretary referred to it as intimate spaces, but that's why we've also asked. That's what we need to know to make sure that we run the safest and best safeguarding program in the country.” ++BLACK FRAME++ 7. SOUNDBITE (English) Roger Krone, Scouting America President and CEO: “We made it clear from the beginning. The secretary, you know, his opinion is certainly welcome to have his opinion about what we should or should not be. But we made a significant decision to welcome the entire family to our organization. And you know that was just something we're not willing to compromise on. And, you know, we now have 200,000 girls in our program.” ++ENDS ON SOUNDBITE++ STORYLINE: The Pentagon has made a deal with Scouting America that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says would maintain their century-old partnership but refocus the organization away from “woke” policies. Hegseth put heavy emphasis on Scouting America’s acceptance of transgender youth, saying Friday that the organization will require members to use their “biological sex at birth and not gender identity.” But Scouting America President and CEO Roger Krone told The Associated Press that the agreement doesn't change existing policies regarding transgender youth and that they are welcome. Several of the negotiated changes mirror what the organization suggested to the Pentagon last month, including adding or losing some badges and waiving registration fees for the children of military personnel. =========================================================== Clients are reminded to adhere to all listed restrictions and to check the terms of their licence agreements.
