February land based shark fishing in South Florida: Blacktip, hammer, and bull shark

This was a long weekend shark fishing trip to South Florida in mid February 2026. Me and Booda flew down and met Jim there who drove with the drone and our heavy tackle. There were reports of hammerheads chasing blacktips up the east coast and we wanted to get in on the food chain. We spent the first day and half catching baits (mostly cudas) and got a blacktip casting cuda heads in Miami (Jim hadn't arrived with the drone yet). We then met up with Jimmy further north and droned out full cudas and 5 lb. string rays that we bought. It took a while but we finally got the hammer; we were even doubled up on sharks at one point, but that never ends well. We then tried two unsuccessful nights on the SW side-- the water is about 10 degrees colder in the gulf this time of year compared to the east side which gets warm water pumped right up from the Florida straights by the gulf stream. Back on the east side for the final night we got into a very nice bull shark, which made the trip.
