The Camino Inglés (English Way) is a lesser-known pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, starting from the ports of Ferrol or A Coruña in northern Spain. Traditionally, pilgrims from northern Europe, particularly England and Ireland, arrived by sea and continued their journey on foot from these coastal cities. This route spans around 120 km from Ferrol, offering scenic views of Galicia’s rugged coastline and lush countryside. After completing the Camino Inglés in Santiago de Compostela, many pilgrims opt for a bus ride to Cape Finisterre, known as the "end of the world." Located on the dramatic Atlantic coast, Finisterre has symbolic significance for pilgrims, who often visit the lighthouse to reflect on the journey’s end, gaze at the ocean, or leave behind a token to mark their pilgrimage's completion. From Santiago, it's also possible to travel by bus to Porto, the charming Portuguese port city. This provides a chance to experience the Portuguese Way, another route of the Camino. Porto's vibrant culture, stunning riverside views, and the warm hospitality of the Portuguese people create an inviting atmosphere. Pilgrims often remark on the beauty of the landscapes and the open-hearted nature of locals along the Portuguese Way, making it a rich and memorable conclusion to their pilgrimage. Buen Camino.
