Final Year Project in Engineering at University of Glasgow Singapore (UGS) and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Student: Sasthikapreeya D/O Ponnarasu Supervisor: Prof. Cindy Goh (UGS) Project Description: During ship design process, hull form optimisation is routinely carried out by ship designer to search for the most ‘optimal’ hull- e.g. reduced resistance and increased efficiency. Currently, optimisation of hull form is performed manually using ‘trial-and-error’ approach and hence not very efficient. Evolutionary algorithm (EA) is a computational intelligent method that can search efficiently among many variation of designs and provide the most optimal design. The scope of this project involves the development of the optimiser using EA and applied into the optimisation of ship’s hull form.
