Welcome to my leafy corner of YouTube! In today’s video, I’m sharing the top 5 “ride or die” houseplants, the ones I’d save first if my house were on fire 🔥, the ones I always repurchase, and the ones I can’t imagine ever living without. Whether you’re a seasoned plant parent or just love rare tropical greenery, I hope you’ll fall in love with these beauties as much as I have. 🌱 What You’ll See in This Video I’ll walk you through each of my five absolute favorite plants, showing you their leaves, growth habits, quirks, and why I would always choose them above all others. Here’s what I talk about: Philodendron esmeraldese – A gorgeous philodendron with lush green leaves. I’ll talk about its care, quirks, and why it never leaves my collection. Rhaphidophora hongkongensis – A fan favourite among rare plant lovers. I’ll share what makes it special, how to care for it, and why it holds a permanent spot in my heart. Platycerium superbum (Staghorn fern) – A dramatic staghorn with bold fronds. It’s not the easiest, but when it thrives, oh it’s worth it. Trevesia burckii – A more unusual one, perhaps lesser known, with stunning deep foliage and tropical vibes. Anthurium vittariifolium – A plant with wonderfully shaped leaves and a tropical feel. I’ll discuss its light, humidity, and repotting needs and why I’d always repurchase it if lost. As I guide you, I’ll share pro tips: lighting, humidity, watering tricks, propagation ideas, and “why I love it” stories. My hope is you finish feeling inspired to add one (or more) of these to your own plant tribe. 🌍 Who This Is For If you are: Into rare tropical and unusual houseplants Already a houseplant owner but looking for your next go-to Thinking of investing in plants that last and bring joy Curious about exotic plants you don’t often see … then this video is for you. Even if you’re just starting, you’ll get insight into how to care for these more “advanced” beauties without getting overwhelmed. ✅ Why These Are My Ride-Or-Die Picks I call these my “ride or die” plants because: They’re reliably worth the effort Their beauty is unmatched, they bring so much personality I’ve lost and re-purchased them before, they’re “must haves” They challenge me (in a good way) to level up my plant care Their uniqueness sets them apart from ordinary greens And yes, if my house burnt down, these would be the ones I’d rush back for. Dramatic? Maybe. But that’s how meaningful these have become to me. 🙋 What You’ll Learn & Walk Away With By the end of this video, you’ll: Know what makes each of these 5 plants special Understand how to care for them (light, water, humidity, soil) Get tips for propagation, repotting, troubleshooting Be able to judge whether one of them is right for your space Be inspired to try something rare and tropical ⏰ Chapters: 00:00 Intro 02:05 Philodendron esmeraldense 05:37 Rhaphidophora hongkongensis 09:17 Platycerium superbum 15:19 Trevesia burckii 20:09 Anthurium vittariifolium 24:06 Final Thoughts 📌 A Few Helpful Tips These plants often love bright, indirect light. Avoid scorching sun. Humidity is your friend, many of these thrive in humid environments (aim for 60% or higher). Use a well-draining, airy potting mix (orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, etc.). Be careful with watering, under or over can both be problematic. Watch for pests (scale, mealybugs) especially on exotic leaves. If you lose one, don’t lose hope; I’ve rehomed all of these multiple times. Get to know your microclimate (your home’s light, airflow, humidity) so you can adapt care.
