This is a 38 year-old patient who was sent to me by a colleague for endometrial polyps (a.k.a. uterine polyps). She was complaining of heavy periods (menorrhagia), painful periods (dysmenorrhea), and bleeding after sex. She had an endometrial biopsy that confirmed endometrial polyps. A pelvic ultrasound diagnosed a uterine septum. The patient desired removal of the endometrial polyps and to leave the uterine septum alone. She was taken to the operating room for a diagnostic hysteroscopy, where a small camera and light are placed through the vagina, through the cervix, and into the uterus. This revealed a uterine septum and two separate uterine cavities. This is a variant of a Mullerian Anomaly (which include: arcuate and bicornuate uteri). In the patient's left uterine cavity (on the right of the video) there are several pedunculated uterine polyps. In the patient's right uterine cavity (on the left of the video) there are several polyps as well, mostly a large sessile polyp on the posterior uterine wall.
