Here's a link to his channel: / @descattysbushcraftbydescattys This is my first time foraging and cooking the Ederflower plant and using it as food by making delicious fritters cooked over the open camp fire. Using basic bushcraft cooking kit, Des shows his recipe for these delicious Elderflower fritters, and exactly how to make them. This is a typical wild food snack you can easily cook whilst out wild camping, hiking or backpacking. The elder flower can be foraged between early May and late June, and is an ideal wild plant food to make around a camp fire with friends. Foraging for the elder flower is easy, as they grow at low level without thorns or spikes, making them an ideal wild plant to use as food in your wild food recipes. How To Make Elderflower Fritters: As you will see in the video, all the ingredients needed to make elderflower fritters are compact and light to carry, ideal for hiking, camping or backpacking in the wild. Elderflower fritters can be found in many herbal food recipes, and once the plant has be foraged it is easy to cook in minutes, making it one of the simple wild food recipes. So the next time you are out in the wild, look out for wild elderflower plants, forage and harvest a few and cook yourself some delicious elderflower fritters, the good old bushcraft cooking way.
