The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Vikram, with Govinda, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ravi Kishan, and Priyamani in pivotal roles. The film is a modern retelling of the Ramayana from the perspective of Ravana. It was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Raavanan, with Vikram playing the protagonist and Prithviraj playing the antagonist. Plot Summary Beera Munda (Abhishek Bachchan), a feared but respected tribal leader labeled a Naxalite by the police, kidnaps Raagini (Aishwarya Rai), wife of Superintendent of Police Dev (Vikram), to avenge the torture and death of his sister Jamunia (Priyamani). Raagini bravely resists Beera, even jumping off a cliff, which stops him from killing her. Over time, she learns the real truth about Beera’s actions and her husband Dev’s brutal campaign against him. Beera’s brothers Mangal and Hariya remain loyal to him, but Dev manipulates situations to eliminate Beera’s family. After a climactic fight on a fragile bridge, Beera spares Dev, but Dev later accuses Raagini of infidelity. Hurt, she returns to confront Beera, only to discover Dev lied. The police attack Beera, who ultimately sacrifices himself to save Raagini. The story mirrors the mythological dynamics of Ravana–Sita–Rama but blurs the lines between “good” and “evil”.
