Histology of a salivary gland

The structure of a salivary gland under the microscope is useful to examine because we can see the organisation of the secretory units and ducts that get larger. We can look at the epithelium lining the ducts and see how that changes, and we can look at the connective tissue and see how it organises the gland into lobules. If we can build an understanding of this cellular organisation and shape in our minds we can then apply this to other organs within the body that are a bit more hidden away.
