Series 3 Episode 14 The need for fasting and prayer Acts 14:21-28_ – RETURN TO THE CHURCH AT ANTIOCH, SYRIA As Paul and Barnabas returned to their home church in Antioch, Syria, which sent them on the first missionary journey, they visited and encouraged the souls of the disciples. God created us to be living souls. This is the inner man where we live because of our submission to the Spirit of God. It is in our souls or in our inner man that we must be strengthened. We must be strengthened and built up in our inner man, in our faith in God, and we must continue in our faith. We must also contend for our faith. There will be tribulations for the church to be a part of the kingdom of God. In Christ, we can overcome our tribulations. In Christ, we are more than conquerors over our tribulations. Tribulations give us a glorious entrance into God's unshakeable kingdom. Entrance into His kingdom is also based on what or on whom we place our trust. Those who place their trust in riches cannot enter the kingdom of God. It is those who do not trust in riches but in God who are true believers of Jesus Christ. This is a quality required to be an elder in the church. As elders, they were shepherds of the flock of God, responsible for the souls of the disciples. Elders of the churches must come together, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, provide direction for the growth of the church on crucial issues.
