Those are some characteristic words to describe Skinflower. The musical style is hard to define - often heavy, that's for sure. But metal and punk (Chatpile, Neurosis) are equally interspersed with pop noir (think Nick Cave, Tindersticks) or new wave (The Cure, Joy Division). As long as it's epic, that might be the best description. Skinflower is a trio: drummer Eric van de Pas, bassist and vocalist Mark Deuze, and guitarist/vocalist Leon Heuts. Starting in the late 1980s and then losing sight of each other for almost twenty years, the band reunited six years ago. Older and seasoned by the spiritual phases of life, loves and losses, the band embarked on a journey to create new music - and above all: an experience, because what is music other than a ritual gathering to celebrate life and keep death at bay for one more day. Although the band got its start in Eindhoven and members live all over The Netherlands, their current home base is Nijmegen, where Eric has handcrafted Skinflower’s very own studio from the first screw to the last drumhead.
