Hello everyone. In this video I talk about the spotted hyena from the perspective of its cranial anatomy and evolutionary history. What does it mean, why it looks the way it does, what its teeth look like and what they were used for. The spotted hyena is the most well known, wide spread and evident of the hyenids bot hon the African continent and in our culture. Despite being relativley similarly build to the brown hyena, the spotted hyena has a much more complex social system and as a result it evolved elaboratre social displays, female masculinization and a more efficient skull. The spotted hyena is a fearsome and skillful hunter that sometimes attacks man and its lifestock.
