Being the highest ranking official with the most seniority meant little to former Fire Chief, Billy Lynch who repeatedly tried to push Chief Yates into early retirement and then ousted him from his current department. Chief Yates says that beginning as early as 2012, Chief Lynch began continually berating him with discriminatory comments which he talks about in detail in his interview with WSMV Channel 4 News Reporter, Nancy Amons on August 28, 2014. “He's been an exemplary employee and he should be accommodated not discriminated.” Attorney, Rocky McElhaney tells Amons.
