The Denver Astronomical Society (DAS) promotes the enjoyment and understanding of astronomical phenomena, history and lore by providing educational and observing opportunities for our members, education to the general public, and outreach activities at the University of Denver's Historic Chamberlin Observatory, schools, and nature centers. Presented by Dr. John Spencer, SW Research Institute for The Denver Astronomical Society Dr. John Spencer got his doctorate in planetary science from the UofA in Tucson, and spent several years at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, before joining SWrI. He is a project scientist on NASA's New Horizons mission to Pluto and its moons. He will be presenting information on the latest available information from the recent successful New Horizons flyby of the minor planet Pluto and its moons. As usual, introductions of new members and guests and a short business meeting preceded the presentations, and there was a reception at DU's Historic Chamberlin Observatory immediately after the meeting to which all attendees were invited.
