Exploring Ghana by Road: Accra to Akpafu Todzi – Hohoe Route Join us on a scenic and culturally rich road trip from Accra to the mountain village of Akpafu Todzi, deep in Ghana’s Oti Region. This immersive journey takes you through bustling towns, serene landscapes, and vibrant local stops, offering a real taste of Ghanaian life. We began our trip in Madina, taking a local tro-tro via the Dodowa road, passing through Shai Hills and Afienya, then on to Odumase Krobo and Kpong. We crossed the iconic Adomi Bridge (near Akosombo and Senchi), where you can stop for delicious local snacks like Abolo and one-man thousand (mini crabs). From there, we entered the Volta Region, passing scenic towns like Adzokoe, Kpeve, and Golokwati, before arriving in Hohoe, the nearest major town to Akpafu. This leg takes about 4 hours and offers plenty of photo-worthy stops. Hohoe is just 25 minutes from the famous Wli Waterfalls, making it a great base for side trips. From Hohoe, we switched to a local taxi and drove through beautiful mountain villages such as Santrokofi Benua and Santrokofi Bume, arriving in Akpafu Mempeasem. The final stretch climbs a mile uphill to Akpafu Todzi, nestled high in the mountains—an unforgettable end to an unforgettable journey.
