Restoring an Antique Ship's Cowl Vent into a Vintage Upcycled Lamp

I found this old ship's cowl vent in an antique shop. This piece serves the function of allowing air circulation within the vessel without allowing seawater or rain to enter. It is also an integral part of what are known as 'dorade boxes'. Its identifications are 'H' and '3FIC 732'. My idea was to restore it using only the tools and utensils I have at home, without any specialized tools. In this case, to restore the brass shine, I usually use vinegar. This removes all oxidation, allowing for a shiny finish polish. I use a mixture of cornstarch with vinegar so that not much vinegar is needed to immerse the whole piece. For the base, I used the electrolysis method to preserve the inscriptions on the metal. At the end I attached the piece to a wooden base and placed a filament bulb to upcycle the piece into a lamp and compose my nautical decor. I've been restoring pieces for a long time, mainly related to nautical items, but only recently started making videos of these restorations.
