Menopause is a complex and difficult transition which all women must navigate during middle life. Symptoms of menopause are both physical and psychological. This talk will discuss the underlying hormonal mechanisms and spectrum of psychological manifestations women experience, and how these impact women diagnosed with ADHD. Preliminary research about hormone replacement therapy will also be discussed. The speaker will show new research on this topic. Jeanette Wasserstein, Ph.D., on the clinical faculty of psychiatry, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, New York. She is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who has spent the last 20 years specializing in the diagnosis, research, and treatment of adults with ADHD. She also focuses on educating those who treat or live with the condition. She has published numerous articles and book chapters regarding the nature of ADHD and associated comorbidities, as well as its assessment and treatment. Her current research interest is cognitive effects of menopause in women with ADHD.
