Roland & Julianna: Bicycle Touring The Rhine Gorge

In this episode Julianna and I leave the Mosel Valley, riding through Koblenz, and begin cycling up the Rhine Gorge. This stretch along the Rhine has been a tourist destination for over 200 years, and boasts some 40 important, UNESCO listed castles along a 40-mile length. Add to that towering cliffs, terraced vineyards, and delightful medieval villages, and you have yourself a picture postcard journey that won’t soon be forgotten. Although much of our path follows a busy highway, the paths are safe and reward us with endless views, and a warm spell puts wind in our sails.
