Concert Hall -- San Francisco Conservatory of Music www.sfpianocompetition.org Karl Seyffarth, born in 2011, is a 13-year-old pianist from Altenburg, Germany. He is currently a seventh-grade student at a local grammar school and has been receiving piano instruction since the age of five under the guidance of Christiane Treibmann. Karl has already achieved remarkable success in national and international competitions. At the age of eleven, he earned the highest score at the state level of ‚Jugend musiziert‘, one of Germany’s most renowned music competitions for young musicians. In 2023, he won first prize at the prestigious Stavenhagen Competition. The year 2024 marked another milestone in his musical journey, as he claimed victories at both the International Competition of Encounters in Dresden and the 6th Clara Schumann Competition in Leipzig. Karl’s playing is characterized by a deep musical sensitivity, a strong technical foundation, and a natural stage presence. His repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary works, and he approaches each piece with thoughtful interpretation and enthusiasm. In addition to his musical pursuits, Karl is also passionate about athletics and ballroom dance. He is an active track and field athlete and devotes much of his free time to dance training. In 2024, he became the Thuringian state champion in standard ballroom dance and vice state champion in Latin dance in his age group. Karl is excited to be a finalist in the 2025 San Francisco International Piano Competition and looks forward to sharing his music with an international audience.
