On November 21st, I received an award from the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) at their California Gala — but this moment was about far more than recognition. It was an opportunity to speak truth in a political climate where staying silent is a privilege our communities cannot afford. In this speech, I honor DACA students in health care — brilliant, resilient leaders who are already strengthening our health-care system while fighting for their right to belong. Their talent, their courage, and their essential contributions deserve stability, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. DACA students are essential. DACA students are American.
