This is the Introduction to the Course: Christianity and Culture in the Early Church - With Dr. James L. Papandrea [Please excuse the shifty eyes, my notes are just to my left of the camera. I’ve got a new set-up since making these intro videos, so hopefully it should be better going forward.] This course is meant to be an overview of the historical, social and political context in which the early Church found itself. In other words, this is “Roman History for students of the New Testament and the early Church.” We will survey Greco-Roman religion, the lives of average people, and the history of the Roman Empire, from New Testament era up to the reign of Constantine. To find my books, here’s my Amazon author page: www.DoctorJimsBooks.com To go deeper into the concepts discussed in this video, check out the following books by me: The Early Church, Reading the Church Fathers, Handed Down, A Week in the Life of Rome, The Wedding of the Lamb: A Historical Approach to the Book of Revelation, and How Christianity Saved Civilization (co-written with Mike Aquilina), To connect with me, you can email me through my website, http://www.JimPapandrea.com. I am not on social media,. My videos are not monetized in any way, and I do not receive any compensation from anyone or sponsorship from any entity. These videos should not be taken to endorse any product other than the books I recommend. I do not receive any commission for the sales of other people’s books, and most of my own book royalties go to charity. I have a master’s degree (M.Div.) and a Ph.D. in the history and theology of the early Church, the history of the Roman Empire, and New Testament interpretation.
