Once a persistent current is established within a superconducting coil, the current can continue indefinitely without an external power source. It sounds like it is against the law of conservation of energy. But the thing is true. There are magnets today that work that way. Electromagnets used in Japan's high-speed trains work like this. If we think that Superconductors are just normal conductors with very little electrical resistance, then we are wrong. A superconductor does not fit into such a simple definition. A few days back, Korean Scientists claimed that they have invented a new super conducting material named LK-99, which shows superconductivity even at room temperature and pressure. What is a Super Conductor? What is the science behind it? What are its features? What advantages do we have if we find superconductors that work at room temperature and pressure? Can we use these superconductors to make perpetual motion machines and free energy machines?
