This one is much improved as I finally found a proper way to record the music. The death jingle isn't included this time around because, as I found out while hacking, it's technically a sound effect (and also is not easily triggered to record cleanly, so I left it out rather than having it messed up by the sound effects that inevitably continue going in the background). TECHNICAL: This game uses a unique sound driver that loads the entirety of a song into the Z80 RAM. This was an important discovery, because the actual game code is nearly impossible to trace without going insane. This fact allowed me to code up a custom sound test ROM that loads Z80 RAM dumps I made from an emulator. Like a save state, I restore these Z80 dumps into memory and reset it and the song magically plays uninterrupted. This is a big accuracy improvement over the last recording I made, which was crudely made by making VGM logs and intentionally crashing the game to keep sound effects from playing. If you are interested in any of this, download the player ROM and take a peek at the source code. Hopefully this ROM will be a big help in getting a proper VGM rip of this game made.
