I am a general surgeon. [What role does empathy play in patient care?] Dr. Anthony Gonzalez: Empathy is important because if you do not understand what patients are feeling, then I think you could really limit your ability to help them. [What is the most satisfying part of your career?] Dr. Anthony Gonzalez: In over the last 10 years, we've been taking surgical teams down to Haiti to do surgery. We travel with a team of could be general surgeons, could be urologists, ophthalmologists, because giving to somebody else gives you so much satisfaction that you felt that you've been giving.
