1. Desolate wastelands will ring with rejoicing. Drought-stricken deserts will burst into blossom. They shall, like Sharon, Lebanon, and Carmel, Be blest with awe-inspiring majesty. Then shall all people our God’s glory see. 2. Strengthen weak hands and feeble knees that tremble. Say to the fearful, those who are fainthearted: “Why should you be afraid? Be strong and valiant. God will redress the wrongs your foes have done, For He will save all those who are His own.” 3. Blind eyes will see and deaf ears will be opened. Lame folk will leap; the mute will all be singing. Water will gush and flow in barren deserts. Hot burning sands oases will become. Grasses and reeds will thrive where jackals roam. 4. In that same region there will be a highway That will be called the Holy Way to Zion. It is a path reserved for God’s own people. No wicked fools will tread that holy ground. Fierce beasts like lions there will not be found. 5. Those God has ransomed shall return to Zion, And they shall enter it with shouts and singing. They shall be crowned with everlasting gladness.
