FLASH radiotherapy involves the ultra-fast delivery of radiation treatment at dose rates several orders of magnitude greater than those currently in routine clinical practice. The clinical benefit associated with the implementation of FLASH radiotherapy is expected to be immediate and of significant benefit to the patient outcome. As is evidenced by the literature summarised in this presentation, FLASH radiation therapy has been observed to achieve tumour-control rates comparable to standard radiotherapy, while offering a significant reduction in the normal tissue complication probability.
