Bangkok: Chao Phraya River Cruise Among the wonderful sights of Bangkok are the most famous Buddhist shrines of Thailand. Not far from the Royal Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Wat Phra Kaew, we find another very popular shrine - Wat Pho, or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. In accordance with Thai temple architectural traditions, of course, this one does not consist of a single building either - several main shrines are surrounded by a richly decorated stupa. The temple complex is open between 8:30 am and 6:30 pm - if you want to avoid the crowds, choose the opening or closing hours to tour this vast area. The dimensions of the Reclining Buddha are impressive - the 46-meter-high, gilded statue of the mysteriously smiling enlightened one almost reaches the entire building. The Buddha, in a comfortable pose, leaning on his hands, is also adorned with carvings depicting religious scenes and symbols on his feet, and the walls of the vast hall are adorned with beautiful painted patterns. After admiring the stupas, beautifully lit in the evening and crowded with colorful and lacy decorations, we leave the wonderland of the Wat Pho temple complex almost mesmerized.
