Nowhere outside of the Hoh Rainforest in Washington State have I been so enchanted by a forest. It stupefied me. It built me up, and refilled a reservoir deep within. By the time I was back at the car I was already homesick for the green tranquility I found. Come along as I hike in, setup camp, and talk life. Plenty of b-roll footage for those who want to see more of the landscape. Can you believe this is in north Alabama? I'm shocked that this under-rated state keeps surprising me with goodies. Lots of treasure in plain sight here. At 17:27 a widowmaker (dead branch) fell only feet away from me as I was talking to the camera. The branch fell right across the trail. I was scared out of my boots! It's so quiet in this wilderness that the noise really did a number on me (not to mention the near-miss). Topics Discussed: Respect the land - know your limits Trail safety - nature is unforgiving to the unprepared Exercise and rest your mind Savor the things you do Discussion about wasting time Camp setup Brief gear discussion Food/cooking and water discussion Cigar: Camacho Nicaragua Tipple: Basil Hayden (regular one, nothing special) Love your life, embrace it - regardless of what happens Shoutout to Eric from the Huntsville REI for dialing me in on Sipsey Wilderness tips!
