Several factors improve survivability of patients experiencing an out of hospital cardiac arrest, a condition that most often occurs in the home and per the American Heart Association affects over 350,000 people per year. According to the American Heart Association, bystanders starting CPR before Fire and EMS personnel getting on scene can double or even triple survivability for that patient. Unfortunately, the AHA says only around 40% of out of hospital cardiac arrest patient's get bystander CPR. Westcom is working to change those numbers by implementing this Emergency Medical Dispatching.
