The incident, which took place in full view of patients and staff, sparked outrage among students and raised concerns over honour-based violence. The victim, Rahul Kumar, a second-year BSc Nursing student at DMCH, was shot at point-blank range inside the hospital premises. The alleged assailant, Premshankar Jha, is the father of Rahul’s wife, Tannu Priya, a first-year student at the same college. The couple had married four months ago against the wishes of Tannu’s family, reportedly due to caste differences. According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred in front of Tannu, reported NDTV. Recounting the horror, she said: “He had a gun. It was my father, Premshankar Jha. He shot my husband in the chest, in front of my eyes.
