This is my presentation in the eSMART 2021 conference. The topic of this presentation is "Purchasing Medical Equipment Informed Decision". Hospitals are considered among the most expensive buildings in the world. For example, in 2016, the New Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia was considered as the third most expensive in the world with $2.1 billion capital cost. This is primarily due to the expensive medical equipment and the required infrastructure. For example, a PET/MRI scanner used in radiology department could cost between 3-5 million dollars. Another example, a surgical robot used in operating theatres could cost between 1-2 million dollars. Our topic today will be about the purchasing of medical equipment and how to reach an informed decision. Recently, I have developed a tool to help final decision makers in this process to reach such informed decision without the need to go in-depth technically, clinically and financially.
